Three Considerations in Selecting Your Plasma TV
You were invited over to a Super Bowl party last year and had the time of your life. Not only did your team win, but you were able to watch the action on your friend’s 50 inch plasma TV. Having had a taste of what television viewing can be like with a plasma TV, you are having difficulty being satisfied with your 28 inch TV that you bought 10 years ago.
So you have decided to take the plunge into the world of plasma TV. However, being the smart consumer that you are; you have decided to do your homework. You are reading reviews, doing comparison shopping, looking at any consumer complaints and talking to your neighbors to find out what will be the best plasma TV for you.
Three of the major considerations include the size of the screen, the quality of the picture and the needed accessories required once the purchase has been made.
Selecting the Right Size Screen
Plasma TV is available in many sizes that can accommodate the preference of consumers and spaces available in mounting that plasma TV. These screen sizes range from 32 inches to 63 inches. Obviously a larger screen provides the viewer with a more powerful and unique viewing experience.
The first order of business in selecting the right screen size of your plasma TV is to measure the area that the plasma TV will be placed. In addition, if the plasma TV will be enclosed in a cabinet, a three-inch space should be provided between the top of the plasma TV and the cabinet. The space will allow for the escaping of the heat generated by the appliance.
Also, the plasma TV does not have built-in speakers. Therefore, another measurement consideration is the providing of space for the speakers on either side of the plasma TV. A rule of thumb is to allow for three to 6 inches on either side.
All of these needed dimensions should then be added together to determine what size of room and space will match the appropriate size screen of your plasma TV.
Selection of Room
As bigger is not always better, another important consideration, in selecting your plasma TV, is the overall size of the room. Having a small 32 inch screen in a large room or a large 63 inch screen in a small bedroom may negate the benefits of a plasma TV.
Appropriately matching the size of the room with the size of the screen should involve a distance consideration. This consideration takes into account the distance between the seating and the viewing of the television. Recommendations of distance between the two are dependent upon the size of screen that you purchase. For example a 32 to 37 inch screen is optimally viewed from a distance of 6 to 10 feet and a 61 to 63 inch plasma TV is best viewed from a distance of 15 feet or more. For screen sizes between 37 inches and 61 inches, the viewing distance should fall in between 10 to 15 feet.
Accessories
Other considerations in selecting your plasma TV include the selection of other items that will protect or add viewing convenience to your television entertainment experience. Those added accessories include a hanging wall mount or entertainment console to place your television. In addition, a quality surge protector should be purchased and utilized to protect your investment. Also, above average cables should be secured to enhance the reception as well as linking to other electronic components.
